I am still listening to the podcast and I saw your email for which I am grateful. I think it very important to open conversations with QB FN and Métis and transcend the language barrier ; people like me and FN friends who speak French could help. I am still learning and always in conversation but friends from Femmes Autochtones du QB promote the concept of QB sovereignty being conditional upon Indigenous sovereignty because without this, the proposition is untenable. The political party Québec Solidaire espouses this position and it is entirely up to Nations to decide their relationship to QB (or Canada). I will keep listening now. Colonialal languages present a barrier in public discourse AND in gvt. Indigenous people who use French as a first or second language are in a weird situation in relation to the Crown and depend on translation or things lost in MULTIPLE translations...

*still in my journey and academic training, I mean. But modesty is everything... Who wants to behave in a combative way in order to secure a reputation and publishing or imagined social justice by espousing one nationalism as valid while renouncing other nationalisms. As my friend says: Who am I to tell you who you are? I'm not the Creator. Best quote ever.

What is enraging is that these academic nationalists are getting all this attention when other academics paved the way for Indigenous methodologies and philosophies exploring Indigenous worldviews, including Métis ecology. They express an opposite position to these nationalists. Why are they not on APTN? I have been so disturbed by what I have seen in social media that I finally broke down and asked my retired Métis aunt professor. She gave some wise words of caution based on Métis ecology. I could ask permission to quote... I am myself an academic, still in my journey. I am hoping to podcast or blog about this - in both languages - but hope to protect myself and avoid arguing in social media about worldviews.
