The only Indigenous people the unnamed professor consults are those that confirm the already held position/conclusion, and not Indigenous or Métis who have a different perspective (ie inclusive Métis academics who invite Métis from other regions to tell their story and express respect for those who identify as Métis... like my aunt!). It would be important to follow Indigenous methodologies and consult the community that is being subjugated as "subject" as opposed to participant and contributor to knowledge-building. This is a choice and an exercise of power.

My aunt is a retired Métis prof! I cannot believe this is happening. People need to talk to elders and Métis scholars! My aunt writes the opposite from these other profs who seek to humiliate...

Lautentian is actually in Northern Ontario :-). My cousins went there. One of three bilingual universities. No butchering at all. Wonderful !
