Well...what can we say, there was a whole lot of things to talk about on this episode. The new map, MNO on probation, lack of support for UNDRIP, lost injunctions, more than one Métis Nation, and so much more.

You are correct re: lack of knowledge of history and general literacy (especially historical, cultural, and political). In my earlier example I refer to classic literacy where not only the organisation, but even francophone Métis, have fallen for this romantic mythology that they spoke/speak Mitchif INSTEAD of French. You provided an example of lack of geographical literacy re: Blackfoot and Crowfoot and Treaty. It la actually scary how much ingorance there is, which allows for manipulation if people do not understand.

...Sorry...calls It Mitchif instead of French. As though they was no connection.... and they refer to "European languages"!!! Never French. So they translated the French of this territory and of seniors, call it Mitchif, public a book....That translates archaic French spoken here into English and a standard French that few people speak here. And then they say Marci.... One word...which arguably they think is .... Mitchif ?

Marci for the message in English Margaret Froh. I wonder if the francophone Métis were informed...the week that Doug Ford sparked a linguistic crisis. Marci is an insult in this climate. MNO' s Mitchif resource is how my grandfather spoke. Everyone I grew up with spoke this way and still does. To be honest, they published a document with funding from Ontario that is false and translates archaic French, not Mitchif French, into English and calls it French. They are not trained in linguistics or sociolinguistics. It comes off as appropriation since they offer no credit or mention to their lingusitic partners and exploit vulnerable francophone Métis who may not realise. MNO should be communicating this in French to their francophone members. They are reproducing a system of dominance. One of my Métis ancestors was an interpreter of Indigenous languages. I cannot accept this lack of consideration and inclusivity and blatant ignorance Ontario's voyageurs and Métis and Canayiens presence before British Conquest. MNC and MNO reproduce colonial systems.
