Karole Dumont says they are perceived as French Canadian.... (?) instead of Métis. The journalist Jean-Pierre Dubé writes about his experience of coming from both communities and the exasperating hyper religious atmosphere of growing up in this old hyper Catholic community (similar to QB and all of French Canadian and Métis French Canadians).
